EV Charger Equipment International Shipping

International shipping of EV chargers, inverters and other live electrical equipment covers DC/AC charging piles, solar and storage inverters, UPS power supplies and other units with live components. The declaration route is determined by whether the unit contains lithium batteries (non-DG or DG Class 9), ensuring the equipment reaches global markets safely and in full compliance.

HUIN International Logistics has specialized in new-energy live equipment logistics for 15 years. We excel at "battery or no battery" classification, and provide UN38.3 / DG packaging certificate agency, FCL / LCL / air freight combination plans, and one-stop DDP door-to-door service.

SERVICE SCOPE

Live Equipment Types We Ship

From EV chargers to UPS power supplies, we cover common live equipment. Not sure if it contains batteries or how to declare it? Send the specs and get a free assessment.

DC Fast Chargers

120–480kW DC fast chargers, some with built-in battery modules. The declaration is determined by whether the unit contains lithium batteries.

AC Slow Chargers / Portable Chargers

7–22kW AC chargers and portable travel chargers; most contain no batteries and ship as general cargo via FCL or LCL.

Solar / Storage Inverters

String inverters and storage PCS. Without batteries → non-DG; with storage batteries → declared as Class 9.

UPS / Frequency Converters / Power Supplies

UPS uninterruptible power supplies and industrial frequency converters with built-in lead-acid or lithium batteries require model-by-model assessment.

Charging Modules / Accessories

Charging modules, cables, control boards and other accessories are compact — LCL and air freight keep costs low.

Not Sure if It Contains Batteries?

Portable power stations, all-in-one storage units, lithium-battery cables... Send the spec sheet or photos, and HUIN will assess the declaration route (Non-DG / UN3480 / UN3481) for free within 24 hours.

COMPLIANCE

Qualifications & Compliance Requirements

The compliance core for live equipment is "whether it contains batteries" — lithium-battery modules are declared as Class 9, pure electronic devices as general cargo. A wrong classification leads to customs rejection or fines.

Document Name Applicable Cargo Processing Time Validity HUIN Agency Service
Battery-Containing Classification All EV chargers / inverters / UPS 0.5–1 business day Per model Free Assessment
UN38.3 Test Report (if lithium) Equipment & modules with built-in lithium batteries 7–15 business days Long-term (per model) Partner Laboratory
DG Packaging Certificate (if lithium) Live equipment containing lithium batteries 3–5 business days Per shipment Full Agency

SHIPPING OPTIONS

Shipping Options Compared · Which Fits Best?

Choose FCL, LCL or air freight by volume, lead time and battery status — FCL is most economical for bulk, air freight is fastest for accessories.

Shipping Mode Applicable Cargo Est. Transit Time Cost Core Advantages Limitations
FCL
20/40ft container
Bulk EV chargers & inverters China → Europe 28–38 days ★★☆★★ Low unit cost at volume; battery-containing units can book DG space Requires a full container load
LCL
Shared space
Small quantities of chargers, accessories, samples Same as FCL + 3–7 days ★★☆☆★ Low starting volume, flexible Battery-containing units need segregation & separate declaration
Air Freight
Lithium via CAO
Samples, after-sales parts, urgent shipments 3–7 days ★★★★★ Fastest — ideal for certification & trade-show pieces Lithium only on cargo aircraft (CAO)
Courier
DHL/FedEx
Small samples, manual-type accessories 3–5 days ★★★★☆ Simplest door-to-door, per-package flexibility Weight & size limits; lithium restricted

PACKING STANDARDS

Packing & Transport Standards

Packing for live equipment centers on "shock-proofing, moisture-proofing and battery segregation" — standards below follow manufacturers' packing guidelines and the IMDG Code.

Wooden Crate / Carton + Pallet

Large chargers use wooden crates + pallets; small equipment uses cartons + pallets. Solid wood requires ISPM15 fumigation.

ISPM15
Shock-Proof Cushioning

Inner EPE foam filling; precision inverters get shock-absorbing bases to dampen transport vibration.

Shock-proof
Moisture & Dust Protection

Full-case PE moisture film + desiccant, sealed ports, protecting circuit boards from sea-salt corrosion.

Moisture-proof
Battery Segregation

Built-in lithium discharged to SOC ≤ 30%, terminals insulated, batteries separated from the host unit (where allowed).

SOC≤30%
Marking & Documentation

Fragile / this-side-up marks, battery labels (if required), complete manuals and accompanying documents.

Marking
In-Container Fixing

Lashing straps + wooden bracing against container walls, air bags filling gaps to prevent shifting in transit.
